Two races and two first places counts JOSH JUNIOR from New Zealand after first day of open FINN EC for juniors and seniors. The competition is sailed in Split aquatorium with YC Labud as organizing authority.

On the wings of south westerly wind 10 to 15 kn he succeed to be first in both races on race course being set between islands of Ciovo and Solta so being a leader of fleet counting 71 sailor from 30 countries.

 “It was difficult today, unstable conditions but started well and finished well for me” said smiling 26 years old New Zealander Junior. He added that he has been inspired by strong opponents and that racing area of Split suits to him. On his back second after first day is Egor Terpiogorev from Russia who took third position in first race and was second in the other, just in photo finish with Croatian Ivan Kljakovic –Gaspic, who after two races holds 14th position due to 26th position in first race.

“I am not satisfy with my sailing today”, said YC Labud Finn no.1, “ I did a mistake having selected wrong side in first race. I hope to discard this race, but now I do not have space for new mistakes. However, when I am under pressure I always sail my best” he concluded through not a very happy smile.

With 2nd and 10th positions Russian junior Arkadiy Kistanov holds third position. Among Croatians entered the event best after first day is one with the least experience in Finn class – Nenad Bugarin (YC Labud) who is on the 10th position overall. “ I am happy with sailing in first race, I took 4th place and I must admit that this gave a wind in my back at the very beginning” said the 22 years old Nenad who is in Finn class since one year and half ago. ΕΎ

“Finally he added: “With 23rd position in second race I am holding third position for juniors. However, regatta is at very beginning and there shall be opportunities and threats until the end” On his back 11th is another sailor from YC Labud, Josip Olujic who counted 18th and 9th positions. Milan Vujasinovic of YC Split with 29th and 11th place holds 20th position overall. On Wednesday two races arescheduled and first start is expected at 1 o’clock p.m.
